A Pennsylvania man arrested for assaulting a 17-year-old boy in August is accused of doing something most peculiar after the assault — kneeling in a prayer pose known as ‘Tebowing,’ a pose made famous by the devoutly Evangelical Denver Broncos turned New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow The Raw Story reports.
Police in Shenago Township, Pennsylvania, say that 53-year-old David Edward McCosby confessed to the attack on the teen, and was charged with misdemeanor simple assault.
Apparently, the teen had driven a lawnmower into the road, blocking the man’s car, according to a police report from the Shenago Township Police Department:
“The male in the vehicle, possible a 1980′s Chrysler New Yorker maroon in color, stopped,” the report said. “He knocked the juvenile off the lawn mower and assaulted him in the front yard of the residence.”
“The male then walked back towards his vehicle, stopping and kneeling down as if in prayer (a ‘Tebow’).”
The term ‘Tebowing’ was officially recognized by the Global Language Monitor in 2011.
