Rick Santorum compares Obama to rise of Hitler, because Rick Santorum is nuts

Did all the Republican candidates take a Stupid Pill this morning? If not, what the hell is going on? Now Rick My-Jesus-is-Better-Than-Yours Santorum is comparing Barack Obama to Hitler:

“Remember, the greatest generation for a year and a half, sat on the sidelines while Europe was under darkness, while our closest ally, Britain, was being bombed and leveled, while Japan was spreading its cancer all throughout Southeast Asia,” Santorum ominously told a packed, enthusiastic crowd at the First Redeemer Church in Cummings, Ga., Sunday, before traveling back to Ohio to campaign here today. [...]

“We’re a hopeful people,” he continued. “We think, well, you know it’ll get better. After a while you find out some things about this guy over in Europe who’s not so good of a guy after all. … Sometimes, sometimes it’s not OK."

So we're already to the point in the campaign where the non-Republican guy is Hitler, now. Hell, I thought they'd be able to hold out at least until April or so, but no—that Hitler analogy was burning a hole in his pocket, it just had to come out.

While Santorum conceded that Obama’s policies were not quite as horrific as Hitler’s war in Europe, the rising GOP front-runner cautioned that the president is “fundamentally restructuring America.”

Other things that Republicans consider to be like Hitler: Birth control. Tax rates under Ronald Reagan. Newfangled light bulbs. It's a very, very big list.

Apparently this isn't a slip of the tongue on Santorum's part, it's an actual new campaign talking point. The geniuses of the Santorum campaign actually planned it out, and he's used it in other recent speeches. Go vote for me, he says, because it's just like fighting Hitler.

Santorum is sick...he's a liar, and a misogynist, and a hateful, psychotic man. In a political party full of liars and crazies, he is working really, really hard to be the worst of them.

Hitler was a Catholic who was used to using religious imagery in his speeches, painting himself as the avenging Christian sweeping away all that ws wrong in the fatherland. (sorta like icky ricky) He engaged his followers and created a sort of truth blindness, or rather an enviroment where it was acceptable to revel in hatred and ignorance. (like the gNOp and frothy) Hitler used deception to get the Greman citizens to beleive they were being opressed while he and his Nazi regime used the ignorance of the Gremans to rid themselves of their enemies......sortal like the gNOp and frothy. The gNOp are mearly willing to oblige!

The part where his faith is close enough to enough of the population that they refuse to hold him accountable.

At least it's kind of a metaphor. It's not nearly as bad as him making the concrete claim that 5% of all deaths in the Netherlands are people being involuntarily euthanized by the government.

Rick Santorum compares Obama to rise of Hitler

Obama is a dictator. Whatever he says goes. Constitution or anyone else who gets in his way be damned. His attack on religion is very troubling and revealing. Santorum is shedding light on that.

No. That is a lie.

You really don't have to parrot whatever idiocy you hear Rush, Beck, or Hannity spout. They won't come for you in the middle of the night.

Then again, maybe they will. They are rather good in the nightmare-inducing department.

Yes, and Hitler was well-known for making compromises when his political opponents raised issues with his actions.

If ANY candidate closely resembles Hitler, it is santorum, across the board, which is no surprise considering the cheek to jowl relations the catholic church had with fascists across Europe during the 1930's and 40's, and the MASSIVE number of fascist war criminals the vatican smuggled out of Europe and into Latin America after the war - and we're talking HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of criminals aided by the vatican.

For what feels like the billionth time, I just have to point out that the day came when Hitler stopped compromising with his political rivals, had them all rounded up and shot during a little event called The Night of the Long Knives.

Didn't take four years, either.

If Obama is a dictator, he needs serious tutoring in how to be a ruthless despot.

RicK Santorum is off his meds...or just off his rocker.

You hit the nail on the head, Baron. When Obama compromised with the "just say no" Repubs on tax cuts for the rich and left the public option out of the health-care act to please the opposition party, I knew then and there ... he was nothing more than a pinko socialist fascist dictator. /s/

Of course any such comparisons (including those regarding GW Bush) have no historical basis. We should have laws similar to the German anti-Nazi guidelines.

There has been no US leader comparable to Hitler, not even close. Not even Nixon (not by a long shot).

I will however freely compare the current Repub attack machine to that devised by Goering and Goebbels. It has been their choice to use slander and steer away from the truth. And their use of fear as a mechanism for control certainly does draw an historical parallel. We see Santorum use those very tactics here and truly there is a large segment of Repubs who have been indoctrinated into these lies. They believe as if they were truth. That is a legitimate comparison.

Greenwood: Bull@!$%#!

Examples, please, with adequate sources that will prove your point. And blogs, hearsay, or right wing think tanks don't count as adequate sources. The sources must be of a FACTUAL nature. Something that could be used as actual EVIDENCE.

By the way, the birth control issue does NOT count, as until Obama was for it, GOTP state governments legislated the EXACT same thing, with FULL endorsement from the GOTP. In point of fact, at least one of those states don't even give exemptions for religion (that would be Iowa).

I don't hold my breath that you'll actually give ANY examples of how Obama, and Obama alone, has forced ANYTHING down our throats. Firstly, you CAN'T, and secondly, people like yourself who make these kinds of claims never bother to actually defend your asinine statements with anything other than your opinion. As anyone who knows anything about debate will tell you, opinions do NOT constitute evidence.

Yes LCS . Obama indoctrinated our school children.

If you took the time to listen to the speech he gave to millions of public school children that day you would know that he "indoctrinated them with the horrible concepts of " be responsible, study hard and stay in school".

I have not heard of anyone no matter how far right a moron he may be using this "indoctrinated" idea since the speech became public.

Ironic that the GOP/TP are comparing Obama to Hitler when it is *them* who are acting more radical in Authoritarianism with their speeches. It's quite clear the GOP/TP are trying to deflect what they are onto Obama. It might work for their base, yet I very doubt such propaganda will work for Independents and other people needed to win the general election.

I went to his website today asking if he were home schooling his children now or would he be doing that just by the merest chance he became president and saw that on Facebook he had almost 148,000 people who liked him. I don't know how many people would turn out to vote for him but when I like someone or something on Facebook I normally mean it.

Bill, as someone who actually has a degree not only in History, but an emphasis on Central Europe, and who also speaks German, I can say you ridiculous comparison is in fact driven appparently by the racism and unreasoning hatred of Obama that you yourself have freely admitted to - a trait that was common among those that supported and voted for Hitler in the early 1930's. The demographic in this country that most closely resembles the demographic of Nazi supporters in Germany are lower middle and middle class professionals with a college education in a pedantic field of study, who are driven by fear and hatred and the belief that others, especially ethnically different others, are taking advantage of them, who fear slipping out of their current social positions and becoming what they most despise, working class.

In other words, the demographic most like Nazi voters in the early 30's are teabaggers and evangelicals.

Is the name Bill K your nom de plume and you're really Sheldon Adelson or Charles Koch? If not,you are part of the 99%.

You may recall, the economic meltdown began on someone else's watch. The GOP promised jobs, jobs, job in 2010 until they got in office. The Repubs vowed transparency and instead its been pure lunacy. C'mon--OWS is the work of Mr. Obama?

It's amazing how right-wing supporters have conveniently overlooked the jobs, jobs, jobs promises from 2010. It's probably because they're so blinded by their hatred of Obama they're unable to see that their elected GOP Tea Party lawmakers are running a "con game" on them.

Santorum and his denegraders are despicable. Who does he and Gingrich think they are. Most Christians are taught to reject hate envy, anger, lust, greed, etc. So the Rs give us Santorum, Gingrich, Cain, C Street gang of cheaters, Ensign, a host of greedy governors, disrespectful congressmen. God above is shaking his head-the golden rule is under bitter angry seige by the hateful. Santorum and Gingrich are the most vile examples of what Christianity is not. Im thinking social conservative is a cover for those lacking any compassion and those with low self esteems. Truly miserable nasty people. No thanks! Time to clean house and vote these terrorists (Rs) out of office.
