Leave it to Rick to accidentally tell it like it is while trying to woo the radical right wingers that now control the GOP. While the Occupy Wall Street people were protesting his campaign appearance, Rick couldn't help but mock the OWS movement, the 99% they represent and the President that supports them.
"... That’s not what a leader of this country should do but Barack Obama has sided with the 99 versus one.”
“He supported this movement, this movement that is intolerant and disrespectful. He supported them and embraced them,” Santorum said to loud cheers from his supporters. “Why? Because it’s consistent with exactly what Barack Obama’s trying to do with this country.”

Could anyone imagine the day when someone running for President would publicly side with one percent? Did anyone, other than the most twisted right winger, think it would be anything but political suicide to call out a President for siding with the American people? When did it become politically acceptable to publicly run on the platform of enriching and further empowering the wealthiest 1% and the expense of the other 99% of Americans?
I couldn't have imagined the day, no...but here it is. Tea Party Republicans publicly and brazenly announce that they are all for the 1% ultra-wealthy, non-job-creators in America and screw the rest of us. Why would anyone sane (and not in the 1%) vote for these people?

Can he blame this one on his wife too?
Amazing. Does he stop to think about how much larger 99% is over 1%? Or is he confident that many of the 99% will not have their vote recorded? Or is he convinced in his heart of hearts that money is speech and that money can buy any election.
Or is he just a simpleton raised in a bubble?<
That disrespectful part is incredible. Have an essay in themaking called "The Horror of Impoliteness". Seems like a country that was born from Revolution would be more comfortable with protests.

Well if you check the FEC Federal Election Commission for his 2008 election...
Well, if you check the FEC reports for 2011, Romney's top six contributors are all Wall Street firms. President Obama has only one in the top 20. That firm - Goldman Sachs - donated $64,000 to Obama and almost $500,000 to Romney. With $12.0 million from wall street, Romney collected more than twice the Obama campaign's $5.0 million take, not even counting the Super PACs. Romney's Super PAC has received million dollar donations from each of seven hedge funds.
Everyone apparently knows this but you, lcs.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/02/us-usa-campaign-wall-street-idUSTRE81100Y20120202
Clearly, Romney is Wall Street's huckleberry this cycle and the reasons are clear. The Obama Administration has called for carried interest - the incentive compensation that private equity and hedge funds receive - to be taxed at regular income tax rates instead of capital gains rates. Romney has stated his intention to repeal the limited protections financial service consumers receive from Dodd-Frank. Romney intends to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and to eliminate all estate taxes. In spite of the fact that the spectacular global financial stemmed from deregulation and lack of enforcement, Romney has pledged to deregulate further.
Your information is old, lcs. Old, tired, discredited and obsolete.
You're far better off going back to your iced tea and stogey.

We DO talk about our President because we're proud of him and his wife Michelle. Here is a fact to counter one of your vicious lies:
According to FactCheck.org about Michelle Obama's job as vice president for community and external affairs (hardly a "no show" job), this attempted smear was started by "The anonymous author a chain e-mail" based on "an opinion piece from the conservative National Review" and they got "the facts wrong in the process". FactCheck.org goes on to report:
University of Chicago Medical Center spokesman John Easton said Mrs. Obama didn’t reduce her work schedule from full time to part time until 2007 when it became clear that her husband would run for president. "As she reduced her hours, beginning early in 2007, her salary decreased proportionately," Easton told us in an e-mail. "She switched to half time shortly before her husband formally announced his campaign, then to 20% later that year and to 0% in 2008."

Are you really a truth searcher?
This is for you and all that care to know, when presenting information, it is best to go directly to the source. The Federal Election Commission, the FEC websight use to be very difficult to use, know it is very easy. You can search by politician, or donor. I research many politicians, and companies, and organizations. So as we see, what Porter posted above 1.18, go to websight and search not only Romney, but Santorum, and Ginrich, Obama, Pelosi, Reid.
Porter chop chop lets get to it! We've much work to do.
BTW you might want to go to IRS.GOV and check the brackets (bush tax rates) and then check into want they were before, and what the dems would have us pay.

Joe Kat - President Obama doesn't hide the fact that he is wealthy - he always says people like him, millionaires and billionaires, should do more, forgo the Bush tax cuts. The GOP's single minded goal is to protect the rich and their rich benefactors, even when it meant that those who needed that break to put food on the table might be taxed at a higher rate. It's hard to believe that any non millionaire would vote to put these greedy bastards in charge of the country. Especially when most of the "ideas" they are selling are schemes to steal important American rights in order to make a few extra bucks for the corporatists they shill for.
- 32 votes
I don't believe you nuts are hitting President Obama as siding with the wealthy. Especially compared with "Money" Mitts. According to the Associated Press:
Just how rich is Mitt Romney? Add up the wealth of the last eight presidents, from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama. Then double that number. Now you're in Romney territory.
He would be among the richest presidents in American history if elected -- probably in the top four.
And FIFTY TIMES richer than Obama. (Who, by the way, had to pay off student loans after graduating from Harvard Law because he started with basically nothing - I thought you guys liked people who made it on their own hard work and intelligence?)
President Obama is doing his best to develop real energy independence. As long as we keep sucking down oil, we'll be dependent on those who have it and most of them are in the Middle East.

You selfish people! Those who support the 1% don't do it because it benefits them; they do it on principle; because it is the right thing to do. The 1% carry a disproportionate burden of those who work for them, providing them with healthcare and retirement, all in exchange for making a measly profit from their labors. No wonder they prefer hiring labor in a communist country like China!

Bull hockey. If that were so, they wouldn't have seen their wealth grow by 300% since Ray-gun while the rest have seen their wealth actually decline.

The Tea Party people buy into what Santorum is saying because they have had so much right wing media brainwashing inflicted on them that they now actually believe that they themselves will soon become really rich and join their fellow 1 percent brethren in rich land. Their philosophy makes them willing to endure being trickled down on by the 1 percent. In their reverential awe and worshipful adoration of the super rich the conservatives are unable to come to grips with the cold hard reality that they will never ever become rich, much less rich enough to join the 1 percent. Talk about living in a fantasy land, these folks take the cake for being gullible suckers.

#1.22 constitutional amendment to eliminate the ability of corporations to buy politicians?
Propaganda is free speech: even with your amendment, corporations are free to invest in works of "art", "literature", and "film" to promote their cause. The best counter to that is a vocal opposition, like the OWS protesters, who managed to re-frame the conversation, without spending billions on public relations and paid political advertising.

The Government will never move you out of the poor or middle class it is all you and how you handle your money.
- 1 vote
I am a social moderate and a fiscal conservative, registered as an independent. The plague of the republican party started with Reagan, who believed you could cut taxes to the point that you did not have enough revenue to fund the programs that were too popular for you to eliminate. trickle down economics has a long, recent history of epic failure. reagan cut taxes on capital gains and income but he ended up having to jack up gas taxes and other taxes that affect the poor and middle class more than the wealthy in order to keep the government from going tits up. Bush 41 ran a campaign on "Read My Lips: NO NEW TAXES!" He had to raise taxes even higher after elected because the math did not allow us to take in less than we spend. Clinton reduced income taxes across the board and from 42% to 39% on the upper earners. he balanced the budget. He reduced the deficit. The Dow went from 2800 to over 10,000. median incomes raised to the highest level in history. record low unemployment. Many say it was because Newt was in Congress, but understand that Newt or no other congressman ever had a history of turning around government. Clinton had done the exact same thing as a govenor. All these mealy mouths that claim it was newt don't realize the failures Newt was associated with in government since the 70's. So Clinton had a track record and Newt rode his coat tails. then along came GW. cut the top rate from 39% to 35%. Increased spending by exploding the size of government adding millions of government jobs in redundant agencies by adding the DHLS. Started 2 wars. Started rebuilding 2 nations we destroyed. was spending progressively more than he took in. The effect of this multiplied like compound interest. When the bottom fell out and the jobs stopped and the revenues decreased even more from a failed economy, the reults compounded exponentially and we ended up with the first 3 years of Obama's office looking like he was a failure when in fact it was the compounded effects of a confounded fool. Now we have Rick santorum, which sounds amazingly a lot like sanitorium and he obviously deserves to spend some time in one. Rick could not even hold his seat in congress in his State. He is a radical nut job and the American people are getting tired of radical nut jobs.

Echo I was thinking the same thing. As I recall in the President's acceptance speech he said that he was President of all Americans. As Americans we should all pull together and do our fair share and be united as one. Republicans have spinned and spun what this President has actually said. Actually I don't think they have paid much attention to what the President has been saying. Just has they are not paying attention what the 99% are saying. They have name called and mocked the 99%. None of these Republican Candidates deserve to be President. They seem to think this a US AGAINST THEM Contest and in this case the 1% against the 99%. If you look at their policies they will only benefit the 1% and destroy the 99% (same old policies that almost destroyed America). How is this American? I don't see any of the President's Policies that will destroy the 1%. The President has sided with America and Americans.

"Obama is for the 99%"!!!! ~Santorum
If Santorum was to win the nomination, I hope they put that on a bumper sticker.
Obama 2012!!!
- 21 votes
Santorum chastizes Obama for supporting the 99%...
Romney is not concerned about the poor....
Gingrichs top priority is to establish a "Moon Colony"...
Paul just wants to know what month it is......
Seems like the Final 4 of the GOP have things under control!

ROFLAO Thanks b dune really needed a laugh today. Thank you =)

Seems like the Final 4 ...
Egad! I just 'flashed' on the Four Horsemen when I read that.

That is the hardest I have laughed in a long time. Thanks. I wrote down your post-if you do not mind-to share with people I know that do not participate in newsvine.
- 7 votes
Now this put a smile on my face and a couple of dance steps for my feet. What a perfect sound bite for the Obama camp.. :=)
- 13 votes
Barry is a 1%er, you can see it dripping down his chin.
And yet he says the 1% shouldn't get special treatment (while Romney and the rest of the 1% say THEY should continue getting special treatment).
You know -- speaking of the poor people who insist on acting as though they'll be rich so long as they keep kissing up to rich people -- our African American brothers and sisters have a name for that (and its initials are "U.T.")

Self-admitted, and self-MADE.
Astonishing how Obama is the epitome of what the Right is proudest of this country for (being able to raise yourself up to ANY height), yet they hate him so irrationally.
- 21 votes
because he is "half black" Fred...if he was all white and a conservative they would jist luv him and call him the appointed Messiah for the ushering in of the pretribulation new world order
- 10 votes
That's the only thing I can come back to. Sure, they hated Clinton, but they never called him a socialist, or insisted he was Muslim. Many racists can't even admit it to themselves (my mom insists she's not, buuuuut..).
I wish it not to be the case, but I have real trouble finding any other rational reason for the intense ODS.

Santorum: 'Barack Obama has sided with the 99 versus 1 '
That might be the first truthful thing Santorum has said since he began running.
Hopefully, the vast majority of the 99 will be smart enough to realize the truth of Santorum's statement.
- 20 votes
It's an election. Why wouldn't someone want to appeal to 99% of the electorate? LOL
- 21 votes
Amazing that Santorum or Romney will admittedly side with the 1% and would still get 40% of the vote without even working for it. That shows how badly bigotry and hate can screw up ones thinking.
- 16 votes
Why wouldn't someone want to appeal to 99% of the electorate?
Because in Republican Bizzarro-world, that's just wrong.
In reality, that's called "majority rules," in other words, the fundamental feature of Democracy.
Cue the right-wing apologists storming into this thread to claim that we are not a Democracy in 3 . . . 2. . . . 1
- 13 votes
hey - I'm no rightwingnutter - but the USA IS a "Republic" - we elect representatives to do the work - not a "pure democracy" where we would do it all by "ourselves". We need to remember the principle of "majority rule; minority right" and that the majority can NEVER be allowed to terrorize the minority.

We need to remember the principle of "majority rule; minority right" and that the majority can NEVER be allowed to terrorize the minority.
Regulatiing business and fairly taxing those who benefit the most from our society are not terrorist activities! Those are common sense appoaches.
And by your reasoning the one percent should certainly not be dictating to the 99%. And that IS the current situation.

Well keep it up. The Chinese have monuments for the Democrat Bill Clinton in China, he taxed business until they went out of business or moved to China. The democrats wanted to spread the wealth, and they did, China and India were the main recipients. If you watch the movie, The One, with Chinese action star Jet Li, it deplicts Al Gore as POTUS. Just look at GE, thats General Electric, Obama has wrapped his loving arms, around this company, and they out source to China. Democrats, the party that has monuments in China. Also remember Chinagate?

Really? I go to China from time to time - and I've never seen one. Of course, I haven't been everywhere. Where are some of those monuments? - I'd like to check them out the next time I'm there. I have a project in Shenzhen, and I'm regularly in Beijing - are any of the monuments in those places?

Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer. I'm sure LCS has never been to China.
Perhaps LCS gets facts from Fox news, Lush Limbaugh and Glen Beck.

Monument in China for Bill Clinton
Ted
Which put us in a precarious position, because now they have the technology, to wipe us off the map, however there is still hope, but we need to clear house and senate and oval office of libs. WE WILL VOTE EM OUT

ut the USA IS a "Republic" -
I hate it when people deliberately misunderstand things. The US is a Democracy organized in the fashion of a Republic. The two are not exactly the same thing, nor are they mutually exclusive.
But the point is, we are definitely a Democracy. Otherwise, why do we vote?
- 6 votes
LCS-Did you even listen to your own link? It's a monument to a Bill Clinton THANK YOU NOTE!
I guess you think if you spin it enough it means something--Geez. A thank you note! Really?????????
Your links are silliness. After seeing how absurd the first link was I'm not wasting my time on the second one.
BTW-what would China have to gain by wiping us off the map since we are the biggest trading power they have?
Goodbye USA, goodbye $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for China. DUH!

hey stupid! sorry .i mean lcs. It was your buddies in the republican party that presided over the largest outsourcing of American jobs( to communist china!) that started during the last couple of years of the Reagan admin. And i believe it was g'bush the first and his admin. that proposed and got passed tax incentives(not tax breaks ,but actual incentives) to outsource American jobs. But being an american worker hater you probably don't care..

Hey pal, don't push your politics on me, all I know is there is only monuments in China for the Democrats, and none for the republicans, and in the movie The One, with Chinese Action star Jet Li, it depicts Al Gore as our POTUS. Which of course was wishful thinking on the Chinese part.
Hey ya wanna sing a song, I wrote it myself, well I wrote the words, the score is from a Roger and Hammerstien production, South Pacific. It's called the Obama blame game. I'm working on a new verse, being the latest is he is blaming the constitution, and our founding fathers.
You know, if this weren't so idiotic it would be funny.
FYI: President Clinton's picture hangs inside the reception hall at the site of the Terra Cotta Soldiers in X'ian too.
These are private. They honor President Clinton's visit to China. His picture also hangs in a noodle shop that he visited in Ho Chi Minh City. So effing what?
You people are completely deluded. Sick, very sick.

They are private? In China? Doesn't the Government own everything...that is the point of being Socialist right?

Doesn't the Government own everything.
Nope.
that is the point of being Socialist right?
China is a capitalist country. They practice what is known as "state capitalism."
- 7 votes
.that is the point of being Socialist right?
no, that isn't what socialism is. Socialism is incorporated in varying degrees in many different political ideologies. Communism is the concept of "communal" ownership, where the government owns everything on behalf and for the (supposed) benefit of the people. COMMUNISTS are socialists, but not all socialists are communist. That's just elitist propaganda from the cold war era.

Yes, they are private. You apparently don't know squat about China.
No, the government doesn't own everything in China. Any individual may own a business. Go learn something before you make uneducated and inane comments. You're wasting everyone's time.

The Chinese have monuments for the Democrat Bill Clinton in China ... Democrats, the party that has monuments in China.
That's it??? Hahahahahahaha. One exhibit of a postcard that Obama sent to some guy in China - thanking him for a gift becomes "...monuments for the Democrat Bill Clinton ..." and "... Democrats, the party that has monuments in China." Man, oh man! - that really puts the Washington Monument and the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials to shame, doesn't it. I guess that's why they had King's monument made in China. Once folks had seen the 'Clinton Monument' - every other monument became yesterday's news.
Sorta makes you wish that Bush Jr., had sent a postcard to someone in China, doesn't it? - but now that I read this - I think I'll stop by the next time I'm in Beijing and see if the photo exhibit honoring Bush Jr., Nixon and Kissinger in the Cultural Palace of Nationalities still up. Of course, having an exhibit in the Beijing Cultural Palace of Nationalities doesn't hold a candle to having a monument to Clinton's postcard in the Wu Culture Expo Center.
Describing an single exhibit of a post card as a 'monument to Clinton' and 'monuments to Democrats' sure confirms (at least, in my mind) how much credibility we can assign to your messages here on the 'Vine.

So you believe Clinton was impeached for having sex in the Oval Office. He ran, he did not fight it. The reason is CHINAGATE. Clinton and his cronies, thought the good ole USA, could get by selling intangibles, they taxed business until they went out of business or moved to China or India. Clinton wanted to level the playing field, he gave our intel to the Chinese, which put us in a precarious position. Check the J-20 aircrafte compare to the Raptor F-22.
I served in the Air Force, as a crew chief on fighter jets. The Chinese have come along way, however they are just copiers.
Also the late 1970s the interest rate on 30 yr fixed rate loan 18% to 20%, 1984 appx 13.5%, 1986 9.5%. I've been in real estate and finance for over 25 years. Worked with some of the best in NYC. The old timers thought the interest rate would never go below, 8%. Because at 8% the fed is giving the money to the lenders at 6%, and the 6% would cover inflation.
When Clinton was elected, Greenspan lowered the interest rate on 30 yr fixed rate loan, from 10.5% to 6%. We in finance could'nt believe it. We all refinanced and consumed, 5 cars per family, and 10 televisions, and cell phones for all the kids. However these products, we consumed were no longer made here, but elsewhere, and the money spent was borrowed money, borrowed from our childrens, children. Laugh now and cry later, much like the attitude, Clinton took with Monica in our Oval office.
Any individual may own a business.
Business is different from owning a cooperation. They ave changed a lot since they decided to move away from farming as an economic drive. They are now facing new challenges and that is government spending 60-70% of their economy is government controlled spending. and they have ultimate say if you can do If the fell your going to dishonor the country they will put you away as quietly as they can. It is all about "saving face".

Glad you seem to know every thing about it. I do know you need a Pass port to go to church. and they have a Government official checking it. and If you start a church you go to prison for life (if your lucky).

In China you need to pass Go, not port.

Not everything and to be frank I don't like China much.
But I've been traveling and doing business there since 1978 - I can't count the number of trips or the amount of time I've spent in China.

There is no 99%. We are a nation of over 300 million citizens all with their own opinions, objectives, etc., but no 99% are agreeable on any one issue.

99% might not agree 100% on any one issue, but the fact is we are all in the same boat whether we are the waitress making tips, or a doctor doing liposuction...

"... That's not what a leader of this country should do but Barack Obama has sided with the 99 versus one."
See, this is exactly why come general election time it won't matter who President Obama is running against...
This nonsense goes over well when you're talking to a bunch of neanderthals who think the Book of Leviticus is the Constitution - but this idiocy won't fly in November.

I must say Santorium is a very strong person. He's engaging two wild competitions at the same time. One is for the Republican nomination, and the other is for Palin's stupidity crown.

If only it were true!
Obama is bought and paid for by the same people santorum dances for.
Obama is bought and paid for by the same people santorum dances for.
LOL. I think you're talking mostly about one person.
Foster Friess is the largest financial backer of the political entity running an independent campaign to boost Mr. Santorum in the GOP race.
So, for your concern-trolling statement to be true, you would need to show a link between Friess and Obama.
Which, I doubt you can.
- 18 votes
Unfortunately he is. His motivations and legislation is more to the populace's considerations but barely.
- 2 votes
Unfortunately he is.
So, again where is the link between Foster Friess and Barack Obama?
Where has Obama carried water for the Catholic Bishops in defiance of widely accepted norms of the ordinary folk who happen to be Catholic and support birth control? Oh, wait. He didn't. He stuck to his rule that contraception shall be paid for, and the Bishops are basically sucking an egg.
Just this last week or so, Obama has submitted a budget calling for higher taxes on the wealthy and greater focus on the middle class. Is that dancing to the same tune as Rick Man-On-Dog Santorum? Who just as this article mentioned, has attacked Obama for supporting THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS?
I mean, the lame-ass false equivalence you folks are trying to establish can be coming from one place, and one place only, and that is the far right's desperate concern-troll factory, working overtime to blur the lines between their unpalatable candidates and the one that is clearly already winning the election.
I smell sheer panic coming from the right. You seem to be reduced to fact-free troll grenade lobbing. Sad, sad, sad.
Obama is going to paste whatever loser the GOP finally puts up for the GE.
- 19 votes
You guys have had 15 minutes to come up with a link between Foster Friess and Obama. Hint: you can select the text starting with "F", and ending with "a" and right-click, choose Copy, and then open a new browser window, navigate to www.google.com, and right-click, choose Paste, hit enter.
I will assume you are just lying, spreading concern-troll BS because the outfit that is paying you is in full panic mode over Santorum's fumbling, stumbling attempts at populism.
Nice try, but it's bull@!$%#.
- 16 votes
Well - if Friess is giving any money to Obama - OpenSecrets.org doesn't know about it.
- 13 votes
This busymonster: I realize that tried to think, and that may be hard for you, so let me clear up a thing or two for you. I never mentioned Foster Friess, or any other specific person, you assumed, you know what that make you? Check out this link to see what I was talking about.
www.newsmax.com/Politics/wall-street-obama/2012/02/13/.../429239
Hahahahahaha! When a person with a functioning brain wants to find facts the last place they look is newsmax. They actually make Fox appear to be fair and balanced. Besides your link went to nothing. Kind of appropriate because if you look to newsmax for facts that is generally what you find.
- 10 votes
It's worse than that, Timba85. The article that RGoodfellow tried to link to: 1) talks about who is not donating to Obama, but 2) is now donating to Romney, and 3) doesn't even mention Santorum.
At least thisbusymonster identified Santorum's primary backer as one of the folks for whom Santorum dances. We're left to wonder what RGoodFellow was thinking about.
- 9 votes
I never mentioned Foster Friess
Foster Friess is Santorum's primary financial backer. Proven fact.
Thus, if you are going to connect Santorum to Obama, you must explain Foster Friess.
Just asserting some random bull@!$%# is not going to fly. Sorry if you thought that it would.
- 5 votes
Well Obama is looking more and more favorbaly on these SuperPACS now that it is election time. That in addition to his "other " charitable donations is set to give him somewhere around 1 Billion Dollars. When asked how he would spend such money he answered,
“I think it’ll be consistent with how I conducted myself in 2008, and hopefully how I’ve conducted myself as president of the United States.”
No cause for alarm there:)
